On this date in 1969. The cornerstone was laid @ 107th & 86th Avenue in Palos Hills. As I drove by the grounds, the sign is still there letting you know church entrance, but the church building is gone. We are still here sharing with SDLC. Blessings.

Today, July 5th marks 48 years, in 1970 when the first Sunday service was held at our building which is now gone. This...according to the history of MVCC by Clarice Stampf & edited & published by Virginia Beehn. We are still here just a different location. ✝️

Do you know what day it is today? That's right it is #MeetTheMembersMonday! Our member in the spotlight today is Joyce Skowrownski! Joyce has been a member of Moraine Valley Community Church for 56 years and she can tell you a lot about the history of the church and the different locations that we have met at over the years. One of the reasons that Joyce enjoys being a member of MVCC is because of all the friendly people and the goal of showing the love of Christ. Joyce is a very outgoing person and she loves to travel. She also is a big Chicago Blackhawks fan and loves going to as many games as she can. Joyce is a very active member of the church as she serves on the Elder board, she is the church treasurer, a leader of the women's ministry and our Thursday night Family Night. Joyce has been married for 29 years and she has 3 children, 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She loves to spend time with her family and watch the grandchildren grow up. We hope you will come meet the more of our member and join us for dinner at our next "Family Night" on Thursday from 6:00-8:30pm.

Excited to welcome new students to the area Trinity Christian College's involvement fair!

Today is #MeetTheMembersMonday, and we are excited to introduce you to Mr. Robert Thompson! Rob is very involved at Moraine Valley Community Church. He is a key leader in the Men's Ministry (Mighty Men of Moraine or M3), serves on the elder board and keeps Sunday services sounding good as the music and worship leader. If you have ever been to MVCC you have probably seen Rob during service using his gifts to glorify God on the keyboard. Rob lives in Oak Lawn and is a Certified Financial Planner. He will be sharing his financial knowledge at our upcoming "Strengthening Your Financial Skills Seminar" at the Oak Park Public Library. He really enjoys what he does as he sees it as a great way of helping others. Rob has been married to his wife Edith for over 2 years now and he has 3 adult sons and a granddaughter. Rob's interests include playing the keyboard, golf and cycling, and working on projects around the house and gardening with his wife. Rob loves that MVCC is "a strong faith based community of Christians, who strive to be disciples for Christ". If you want to learn more about what that means we hope you will give us a visit!

This week for #MeetTheMembersMonday we are excited to introduce you to our youth director, Megan Bustamante. Megan has been the youth director at Moraine Valley Community Church for about two and a half years now and says she has enjoyed every minute of it, "Seeing Living Water Youth Group grow, and the youth start to really understand what being a Christian is all about has been very exciting" Megan and her husband, Chucho, will be celebrating their 3 year anniversary next week and they have a 1 year old son. As a family they enjoy camping, swimming and spending time out doors and having a toddler always makes that more fun. A list of Megan's favorite things include the color pink, cookie dough ice cream, coffee with cream, her hometown in Michigan, the Princess Bride movie, sewing, her family and Thursday nights (youth group night). Megan says that she is excited to see what God has planned for Moraine Valley Community Church and the youth group. We hope that you will come join us!

Today our #MeetTheMembersMonday post features a lady that is one of our church elders, a member of the "As One" praise band and a leader in our women's ministries. Today we are going to introduce you to Virginia Beehn! Virginia has been a member of Moraine Valley Community Church (MVCC) since 1978. It was actually during the fellowship time at church that year that she met her husband Roy. They got married a year later and have been attending MVCC ever since. Virginia has a career in radio, as she is the public affairs host for WJCH 91.1 FM. But when she is not at work you may be able to find her riding her Harley motorcycle. A fun fact about her is that in 2002 she was named the "Most Adventurous Lady of Harley Davidson" for riding her motorcycle all the way to Florida, just 8 weeks after getting it! Family gatherings are always fun for Virginia, as she has a pretty large family. Together her and her husband have 9 children/stepchildren, more than 20 grandchildren, more than 20 great-grandchildren and even 1 great-great-grand-daughter! When asked what she loves most about MVCC, Virginia says it is the "friendly people who love the LORD and want to draw closer to Him". We hope that you will join us soon and meet even more of our members!

It only makes sense to kick off our #MeetTheMembersMonday posts by introducing you to the Pastor of Moraine Valley Community Church, Pastor Derek Mason! Pastor Derek has been at Moraine Valley Community Church (MVCC) for almost 4 years now and he is very involved in many ministries. He sings and plays guitar in our worship team, volunteers at Elsie's Pantry, and it a key member of the prayer team, care ministry and Outreach and Evangelism ministries just to name a few. When Pastor Derek is not at church you may find him spending time with his wife Jennifer, at the beach, playing golf, playing his guitar in worship or just enjoying some ice cream or a good cup of coffee. Before Pastor Derek was a pastor he spent years in the business and marketing world and before that he was even in a rock and roll band! When asked what he likes best about MVCC, Pastor Derek explains that he likes the genuine love of people and God's Word that is only possible because we are not afraid to embrace the Holy Spirit. He also is thankful for the "incredibly warm family environment here (inclusive to all generations)". He hopes that you will take a chance and come visit, as we are always excited for others to join our family.

We are excited to start a post series called "Meet The Members Monday". Each week around noon we will introduce you to a different member of Moraine Valley Community Church. We hope you check back each week to see who our featured member is.

This past Sunday was the first week that our new nursery was ready to be used and let's just say that our youngest member was pretty happy with it! There are still a few small finishing touches to be put in place but we couldn't be more excited to have this space just for the little ones.

With Pentecost just last Sunday the youth are getting ready to dive into a study on the Holy Spirit during Family Night this summer.
